Do you rent helmets?

Absolutely. For your safety, all rentals include a helmet. We have adult and kids sizes available for every bike rental.

What should I wear?

We recommend wearing layers you can remove as needed and packing rain gear or wind protection. Consider bringing a backpack to store any extra items and a water bottle if you’re cruising around town.

Do you rent kids' bikes?

Most locations have kids bikes available; sizes may be limited.

What time can I pick up my half-day morning rental?

Generally, half-day morning rentals are 10 AM – 2 PM. This can vary by location, so confirm the exact times with your rental shop.

What time can I pick up my half-day afternoon rental?

Generally, half-day afternoon rentals are 2 PM – 6 PM. This can vary by location, so confirm the exact times with your rental shop.

Do you rent protective gear aside from helmets?

Yes, for certain bike park and downhill bike rentals. These options include knee and elbow pads and body armor and can be selected in Step 3.

Are there mountain bike trails for beginners?

Most locations have mountain bike trails for beginners. Ask a team member for their trail recommendations based on your experience and comfort level.

What happens if I get a flat tire?

Safety first. Dismount and move your bike to a safe place. Then, call the rental shop. We’ll help fix your flat and get you back out there. We recommend bringing a cell phone and adding the shop’s number before you begin your ride.

What times of the year do you rent bikes?

Typically, May through August, but this can vary by weather conditions and resort. For your safety, some trails may be closed early in the season.

Can we bike on the ski resort property?

At most resorts, yes. Check current conditions and for any trail restrictions before your visit. Several resorts also have chairlifts that carry you and your bike up the mountain so you can ride down single-track trails or ski runs. Resorts like Whistler Blackcomb, Keystone, Northstar and more have bike parks.

My child is coming with a group, but I will not accompany him or her. Is there a liability waiver I need to sign?

We require a parent or legal guardian to sign a release of liability on behalf of an unaccompanied person younger than 18 years old. Download, complete and print this waiver and send it with your child. They will not be able to participate if the release is not signed. No exceptions.

Are there weight limits on your bikes?

Yes, each manufacturer will set a maximum rider weight to ensure the safety of riders – please contact your preferred rental store directly to confirm the maximum rider weight for the bike you’re interested in renting.

RESERVATIONS & CANCELLATIONS

Where do I make a reservation?

You can make a reservation online through Epic Mountain Rentals or directly through participating resort rental pages. Booking online is the easiest way to browse available gear options, select your preferred package, and secure your reservation in advance.

Booking online in advance helps ensure availability, faster pickup, and access to any applicable discounts.

How far in advance do I need to book my reservation?

You can book your reservation at any time before your arrival, but we recommend reserving at least a few days in advance to ensure the best selection and availability. If you make a reservation less than 2 calendar days in advance of your arrival, gear will only be available for pick up at a store location and delivery will not be available. Gear selection is subject to gear availability at time of booking. We recommend booking gear for a minimum of 48 hours in advance to ensure the best overall experience and selection.

Reservations may be canceled up to 24 hours before 8:00 am local time on the first day of your reservation for a full refund, and can be done online.

For cancellations inside of 24 hours that have not yet been fulfilled, refunds are available minus a restocking fee. Restocking fees are applicable to each package on the reservation.  No shows are non-refundable. Please call 970-754-0033 (or toll free at 1-800-200-9990) so we can assist you.  We cannot cancel reservations by email or in person.

Rescheduled reservations will be subject to inventory available of their new date, which may be different from your original reservation.

How do I determine my skier type?

Your skier type reflects your ability level and is typically classified as Type I (Beginner), Type II (Intermediate), or Type III (Advanced). It helps rental shops and technicians set your equipment correctly for safety and performance. Choose the skier type that best matches your typical speed, terrain, and confidence level—not your aspirations.

Why does skier type matter?

Your skier type is used to set your binding release settings (DIN), match you to the right equipment performance level, and help maintain performance.

How do I select gear for my reservations?

Guests can choose from Sport, Performance, and Demo packages at the majority of locations. For standard packages, our experts will select the best gear for you based on your Renter Information inputs.

Can I purchase my rental equipment?

No, but retail locations may sell new equipment or used models.

Can I exchange my skis?

Yes—ski and snowboard exchanges are available during your rental period to ensure you have the right equipment for your experience. You can return to any rental location, and our team will help fit you with a different size, style, or model based on availability.

Please note that upgrades may result in an additional charge, and exchanges are subject to equipment availability at the location.

GEAR & FULFILLMENT

Can I switch from skis to a snowboard?

Yes—you can switch from skis to a snowboard (or vice versa) during your rental period. Category switches are based on availability at the location at the time of the request. Changes may require additional time for refitting and adjustments, and upgrades or different equipment categories may result in an additional charge.

Can I pick up skis the day before?

Yes, after 3 PM with no extra charge.

Can I bring my own boots?

Yes. Our rental locations allow you to bring and use your own ski or snowboard boots with rental equipment. Our team will help ensure your bindings are properly adjusted for your boots to provide the best fit and safety. You can deselect boots during booking. Please note: Boots must be compatible with rental bindings. Our technicians will verify compatibility and adjust settings before use

When do I need a boot inspection?

A boot inspection is required for any guest bringing their own ski boots for a rental. A boot inspection includes a review of the make, model, size, and sole length. Boots are checked for compatibility with bindings as well as safety with regard to excessive wear and proper functionality.

Yes, up to size 15 (ski) and 15 (snowboard), but availability is limited.

Yes, at select resorts, including hotels, condos, and vacation homes.  Reservations for delivery must be made at least 48 hours in advance of fulfilment.

Do you rent helmets?

Yes. Helmets can be added at the time a reservation is booked as part of a package or available for rental in-store.

Can I take a day off mid-rental?

Yes—coordinate with staff at pickup to avoid extra charges.

Do you rent ski clothing?

Ski clothing rentals are not available, but retail stores at our resorts offer a full selection of jackets, pants, gloves, goggles, and base layers to get you fully equipped for your time on the mountain.

Our team can help you find the right gear for the conditions, fit, and activity level so you’re comfortable and ready to enjoy your experience.

Can I rent boots only?

Yes—our locations offer boot-only rentals if you plan to use your own skis or snowboard.

Because your personal skis or snowboard are being paired with our boots, you must bring your equipment with you at the time of your rental. Our technicians will complete required ASTM-standard binding compatibility and release testing to ensure the setup meets manufacturer functionality and safety requirements. This process takes additional time and may add up to 30 minutes to your fitting, depending on store volume.

We recommend planning ahead and allowing extra time, especially during peak hours, to ensure proper fit and safety testing.

Do you offer overnight storage?

Yes—Select locations offer complimentary overnight ski and snowboard storage for rental equipment, allowing you to leave your skis and boards at the mountain.

Storage is available on a first-come, first-served basis and may be limited based on capacity, so we recommend confirming availability with your rental location when you pick up your equipment.

Do I need a waiver for an unaccompanied minor?

We require a parent or legal guardian to sign a release of liability on behalf of an unaccompanied person younger than 18 years old. Download, complete and print this waiver: and send it with your child. They will not be able to participate if the release is not signed. No exceptions.

What is the age limit for kids rentals?

Kids rental equipment is designed for children ages 12 and under, with sizing and options tailored to younger guests. Our team will ensure each child is fitted with the appropriate equipment based on: Height and weight, Ability level, and Boot and ski/board size. Kids 12 and under needing adult sizes will still honor kids pricing.

For very young children or those outside standard sizing ranges, availability may vary, so we recommend confirming with your rental location in advance.
